Infrared Heating

Infrared heating is the latest low energy way of heating your home or office.

These are electric and can be linked together using wireless technology via remote room thermostats. They can be fitted to walls or ceilings and the great thing is they are slim and can even be disguised as pictures or mirrors. Benefits to installing these over traditional heating methods are that they can help with damp and have proven health benefits from how they work.

How does it work?

Infrared heating works by emitting low energy infrared waves from the panel, and heats up the mass of the room such as walls and furniture, unlike traditional electric storage heating or gas/oil fired water central heating which heats up the air around you. The waves that get emitted from them are the same that get emitted from the sun.

An example of this is when people go skiing they do not freeze even though they are in freezing air temperatures, this is because of the natural infrared waves that are given off by the sun. When these waves hit an object they give off energy in the form of heat irrespective of its surrounding air temperature. With this in mind, it is better to heat things rather than the air which is what infrared heater panels do really well. The diagram shows the difference between traditional heating compared with infrared heating.

At I.S Electrical we are approved installers and can provide a full survey service telling you how infrared heating can work for you and how much you could save in energy costs over your existing system.
